Stamping on your scrapbook pages

When I first started scrapbooking, I had to have every single patterned paper and sticker I set my eyes on. I had to have all the latest designs and everything cute. I had to have every font sticker, in every color and sometimes I had to buy extra just to make certain I didnt run out. Over the past six years, my scrapbooking has matured, my tastes have run the gammot and I have finally arrived at a scrapbooking style that incorporates the use of rubber stamps. I have discovered that using rubber stamps on your scrapbook pages can be both fulfilling and economic.

Stamps can easily be incorporated into a title, to add to your title, or even use letter stamps to stamp your title, with perfect placement. Stamps are so versatile because they can be tailored to any layout or color. No need to buy your favorite stickers a hundred times, in every color imagagineable, buy stamps in the font you like and use them over and over and over, making them any color or combination of colors to suit your needs. Gone are the days of running out of the letters you need, with stamped letters, you always have the letter you need. Stamps are such an economical solution for scrapbookers. A set of quality letter stamps can last a lifetime and a pad of ink or set of markers to customize your letters will last virtually forever. With Stampin' Up's in color options, your color options can be virtually endless!

Stamping with rollers can make great backgrounds. For example, My ABC's and Dotted lines rollers (From Stampin' Up! )are fabulous options to create customized journaling blocks on your layouts. Again, you can make any color journaling space, you can make it as long or as short as you want.

With virtually any image, and some versa-mark ink, you can create gorgeous patterned paper with a water mark. Better yet, if you choose an ink color to coordinate with your cardstock, you can make beautiful custom paper. Turn the image, flip it, stamp only a part of it, use a darker color, a lighter color, you can customize your paper to suit your needs. Again, if you own the stamp and the ink, you can never run out of the custom design.... Just make some more.

Another wonderful use for stamps is to create your very own stickers. Stickers are all the rage in scrapbooking, why pay more than $1.00 for a pack of flower stickers when you can buy a stamp one time and have flowers for a life time. Buy a beautiful set of stamps and you can create tons of images, in any color you need. Stamp your image in your desired color, cut it out and run it through your xyron.... wala! Roller stamps can also make great borders. Again, you can make custom border in any color. Use a regular stamp and repeat the image over and over across your cardstock to create a unique custom border.

I always hear the same things from potential clients and friends when they hear about scrapbooking or see something I have created. When I saw this article, I knew it would be the perfect article to post on here.

When I tell people about what I do, I often hear things like; "I am not creative at all", "I just don't have the time" , "I would love to be able to scrapbook". If you have the desire to scrapbook, you can make to happen. Read on... three common scrapbooking myths are about to be BUSTED!

Scrapbooking Myth #1: There's no time to scrapbook. Scrapping doesn't require more time than you are willing to give to yourself for other activities (like exercise or the spa), it just requires scheduling. Most retail stores post their scrapbooking times 2 to 3 months in advance.

Independent consultants offer workshops as well and will likely have their schedules prepared 4 to 6 months in advance. My friend, Jackie, only scrapbooks twice a year - at weekend retreat events an independent consultant runs. Jackie knows 6 months in advance when the next retreat will happen and works her family calendar around it. She is able to remain up to date with her photo projects by simply making the most of these two opportunities. In my experience, busy people get things done - because of planning.

Scrapbook Page with Full of Life stamp set

  As I said a few days ago, I am trying to get some more scrapbook pages together, using stamps for my scrapbooking customers. Again, with the Top Notes die, the heart punch and a single fleurette. I love that thing!!! Of course, I used the great Bella Rosa set again and the Full of Life stamp set.

More Botanical Blooms

I am really loving this set, too bad there is only one day left, I sure could do a lot more with it. Anywho, here is a mothers day card, the first picture is the outside, I am so addicted to the top notes die, I could probably use it on every card I make. Also, the Bella Rosa paper has got to be one of the most beautiful sets.

Bleached Eastern Blooms

 

I wanted to try some more techniques with bleach, so I tried out this one I found online, I embossed the flowers first with Stampin Stuff Boss Gloss embossing ink. I then used red and black embossing powder respectively. Next, I outlined and hi-lighted the internal part of the flowers with bleach, using my fantastix coloring tool by Tsukineko. I cut out my flowers and glued them to cardstock and used bella rose paper from SU. The stamp is Eastern Blooms from SU. I think it would have looked better if without the shiny gloss, maybe I will try them in Matte next time. Thanks a bunch for stopping by.

I am trying to come up with some scrapbook pages for some friends of mine that like to scrapbook, but arent too sure about the stamping thing yet, so, I used the From the Kitchen of stamp set and came up with this: I used the stamp to add my journaling which reads:

1 C Trust
1 TBsp Patience
2 pinches of forgiveness
16 ounces of communication
a dash of insecurity

Combine and simmer for years to come. Add laughter to taste and always serve with a smile

Here's a new use for masking tape-Take some colored masking tape and adhere it to a piece of waxed paper. Now punch along the tape. Very gently remove the masking tape from the waxed paper, and TA-DAH! You have this cool border I made in green for St. Patty's Day. (After I removed the wax paper, I stuck my tape border down on a piece of green gingham paper and I scalloped one edge with specialty scissors.

To make the pot of gold, I doodled the pot, colored in around it, put glitter in the pot, and then glued on gold sequins. Yep, 3-D is fun stuff.

My honey is home between flights tonight, so, I will just post a few things I have been working on this week, here are a few cards I made with some of my new SU sets. I really like the graduation set, I think I am gonna make a few more to sell at my next craft sale. Maybe I will knock out a few in the local HS colors...

Also, I have been working on some really cute easter egg ideas I got from the Martha stewart magazine. They are soooo cute, I had a little trouble with the ones I made, but I got the hang of it now, I need to go pick up a few more wooden eggs from AC Moore and make some more, I want to show you the pretty ones, only!!!! I am hooked on this sizzix Top Note from Stampin up! I could use almost any stamp and make a card with this thing. Since I dont have a lot of embellishments, I havent been getting a whole lot of sentiments on the card, guess I should work on that next. Thanks for looking!

Exploding Box - Bella Rosa

 
 
 
 

I started working on this last night, an exploding box for mothers day. I used SU Bella Rosa Paper. I cut some flowers with my sizzix and used a border cutter to trim the inside. I am having a hard time using only SU products, since I only have my starter kit and a few other sets that I couldnt live without, but I didnt invest in a lot of embellishments, I figured I had enough, but, since I have all these workshops I am trying to prepare for, I wish I had more SU stuff.
